The Magical World of Eventyr

Welcome to Eventyr, a realm of boundless adventure and intrigue, meticulously crafted for your Dungeons & Dragons escapades. Inspired by the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand, Eventyr is a sandbox of possibilities, where every decision you make shapes the world around you. From navigating bustling cities and mysterious floating islands to combating goblin threats and navigating the socio-political games of wealthy families, Eventyr pulses with life.

Amidst the glamour and grandeur, darker truths lurk in the shadows, with the lingering presence of slavery and the rise of piracy as a form of rebellion. In this world, power is a game, and Coins of Favor, a unique currency, can change your fate in an instant.

Eventyr is not just a setting; it's a living, breathing world that evolves with your actions — where every session is a new chapter in an epic saga that you help write.

Quick Facts (read this first)

Character Creation (overview)

If you want to use D&D Beyond to create your character, let us know and we will send you the campaign link so that you can access all of our sourcebooks.

Creating a character for Eventyr is an exciting journey into a world rich with history, culture, and conflict. There is a lot of information below — the goal is to help you create a character with a deep motivation and a rich backstory that makes the game even more fun and engaging.

Starting Character Level

New characters joining our games (as of June 2026) will begin at Level 9

New characters may have a starting magic item (up to Very Rare)

Step 1 — Motivation (required)

Understanding your character’s motivations is crucial. It helps you make decisions in character, and it helps me craft story hooks that feel personal and meaningful.

In our game, having a clear motivation for your character is essential. It’s not just a suggestion — it’s a requirement (and it will make your experience more rewarding).

Step 2 — Archetype (optional but helpful)

Archetypes can give you a strong starting point for personality, role in the party, and backstory. Mix and match — or make your own.

  1. The Hero: Brave and noble; strives to do what’s right. Often a main combatant and moral compass.
  2. The Rogue: Trickster, thief, or con artist; excellent at stealth, deception, and traps.
  3. The Scholar: Intelligent and knowledgeable; uses lore and learning to solve problems and support the party.
